Founded in 1952, the Housing Authority of the City of Eufaula is chartered under the laws of the State of Alabama to provide and administer affordable housing programs for the citizens of Eufaula. The Housing Authority receives policy guidance and operational approval from its five member governing Board of Commissioners who are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Eufaula. All funding is provided by the Federal Government through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Located in southeast Alabama on beautiful Lake Eufaula, the Eufaula Housing Authority (EHA) provides
377 units of public housing in the city limits of Eufaula. The Section 8 program administers 432 housing vouchers in both Barbour and Henry Counties. We also manage Creek Ridge Apartments, a LIHTC development of 46 units, and the Abbeville Housing Authority of 40 units. EHA’s staff consists of 29 full-time employees.

We are committed to providing quality customer service to our residents. In addition, we wish to provide every opportunity available so that residents may fulfill their personal and career goals. Education and personal betterment is at the top of the list as we pride ourselves in providing educational/self-improvement opportunities for every age group. We partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lake Eufaula, the Family Service Center Barbour (Clearinghouse) as well as several local community improvement agencies, everyone has the chance to better their lives in many areas.

Eufaula Housing Authority Receives YouthBuild Grant

Sept 2017 Eufaula Housing Authority has received $1.1 million dollars to fund a new YouthBuild Program. The program is a 36-month grant program funded by the United States Department of Labor to serve high school dropouts and adjudicated youth ages 16-24. EHA will service approximately 20 youth per year providing them with Adult Education classes, soft-skills training, leadership development, and vocational skills training. Skills training target areas are Welding, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, and Electrical fields.

The inaugural graduation ceremony of Eufaula’s YouthBuild program was a big success, but Executive Director Tom Wachs wants it to be even bigger and better next year.

“I am beyond thrilled for our very first graduation ceremony. Spread the word about this fantastic program. I expect more tables filled up with grads next year.”

Two individuals earned graduation diplomas, while four others earned certificates.
