Qualifying for the Public Housing Program
Under the Public Housing Program, the applicant must qualify as a family and
be under the HUD prescribed income limits. The head of household must be 19
years of age or older or 18 years old and married. The applicant must pass
comprehensive screening which includes background checks on criminal history,
previous landlord references, other housing authorities, employers, social
service agencies, court records and the like.
The Eufaula Housing Authority determines the amount of rent based on the family's
total income. Generally, the rent is 30% of the adjusted gross income. Once
declared eligible and the family's name is called from the waiting list, the
appropriate sized apartment is selected for the family.
The Eufaula Housing Authority has four apartment complexes throughout the
city. They are: Chattahoochee Courts, Western Heights, Forest Hills and Fairlane
Meadows.
