Location
Located in southeast Alabama on beautiful Lake Eufaula,
the Eufaula Housing Authority administers 377 units of Public Housing and 388
Section 8 vouchers. Eufaula is located on the Alabama/Georgia border approximately
halfway between Dothan, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia and 75 miles southeast
of Montgomery, AL. Click here to see where
we are.
The Eufaula Housing Authority is a federally funded, state chartered agency
that is neither a federal, state, or local government agency but rather
considered to be a quasi-governmental agency. We answer to the Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and are bound by regulations as
set forth in Title 24 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
How Does EHA Grade?
In 1990, HUD implemented
the Public Housing Assessment System to grade Housing Authorities to
determine their effectiveness in the areas of management, resident
service, maintenance and financial accountability. We are proud to report
that the Eufaula Housing Authority has always scored well and been considered
both a High and Standard
Performer.
EHA Receives Rare Award
Eufaula Pride, a local agency given the task of keeping Eufaula beautiful,
awarded the Eufaula Housing Authority the 1999 Beautification Award for the
entire city. It is extremely rare for a housing authority to receive such an
award. We feel this is a tribute to a tremendous maintenance staff who take
pride in their work and to our residents that take good care of their apartments.
We congratulate our residents and award winning maintenance department on winning
this award!
Board of Commissioners
The five member Board of Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor of the City
of Eufaula and have the task of setting policy and provide guidance to the
Executive Director. The Board members are Tommy Lewis-Chairman, Hugh Sparks-Vice-Chairman,
Mo Erkins, Larry Thomas, and Patricia Lockett.
